Potting soil (potting growing media)

Potting soil is a collective term for different kinds of growing media with each their own composition and specific structure, especially for plants in pots and flower containers. Potting mixes are lightweight, contrary to for instance the heavier dark garden soil. One of the biggest components of potting media is peat.

On the basis of research, the potting growing media manufacturers succeeded in developing a high-quality potting mix for nearly every plant, nutrients, the structure and the composition of the media have exactly been tuned to the use.

Dependent on the grower need, peat is mixed with products like bark, coir, compost, clay, sand, fertilizers and lime. In this way structure, composition and nutrients together cause that the plant can root in its ideal mix. A healthy root system creates a better growth and allows the plant to stand sturdy.

To get healthy, strong plants, the potting media has to satisfy the special needs of the each specific plant. In addition to a good media structure, there are for example also certain nutrients and appropriate lime necessary, to let the plant grow and develop well. Nitrogen for example, is necessary for the growth of a plant and iron is necessary for the production of the leafs and the flowering.

The potting mixes developed and produced by the Areapeat company meet all the basic needs for the best and most sustainable plant development.

Aerated potting media for quick and stronger rooting, and high-quality crops. We convincing growers worldwide of the added value of black and sod peat to classic Baltic peat moss as a raw materials for the cultivation of vegetables, soft fruit, flowers and plants.

• Holds water but does not waterlog as well as good aeration

  Products for Potting and Transplanting

1. The ultimate growing medium for any vegetable

2. Summer, autumn  bedding

3. Tubs & basket

4. Pot plants

5. Container nursery stock

Container-grown plant substrate mixtures are very important for the production of nursery and greenhouse plants. There have been several studies conducted on horticulture plants with soilless substrate on the parameters such as growth, quality, and quantity. Peat has been used for successful cultivation of different vegetables and ornamental crops in soilless culture since the early 1900s. Peat has important functions for plant. It keeps water and nutrients and gives them steadily to plants. It has air pockets or pores to supply oxygen to plant roots and to allow for drainage.

Correct mix plays a key role in the structural stability of the root zone. A stable cultivation and a higher yield per square meter!

Areapeat potting and transpalnting substrates is loaded with quality, functional ingredients that allow users to easily create nursery grade trays and pots greenhouse and open field usage!

  • High water retention and buffering capacity of pH-value because of
    the frozen black peat
  • Better drainage and root development by the share of white sod peat
  • Quicker water absorption in case of drying out by the high share of
    white peat

Desirable physical and agrochemical properties of a substrate are essential
